Flatbread Breadsticks

Flatbread Breadsticks

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Prep time: 30 minutes

My wonderful cousin Anne gave me this recipe,
and it has become one of our favorites at The Clark Cottage!
*Easy and quick, these breadsticks can be made during the day (in the pan)
and left in the fridge until ready to heat for dinner.

2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 Tbl oil
2 1/2 c sifted flour
2 Tbl melted butter
1 tsp garlic powder
sprinkling of Italian Seasoning

Preheat oven to 425 degrees and grease a cookie sheet. (in my picture I halved the dough and baked it in a 9x13 pan. I froze the other half for another day.)
Put yeast in large bowl then add warm water. Let stand for 8 min.
Add in sugar, salt, oil, and sifted flour then mix until slightly combine with a fork or in a mixer with the dough hook attachment. Let dough stand for 5 minutes.
Knead dough until soft and moist. Will be slightly sticky. just add flour to hands.
Divide into 2 dough balls. Roll out each one on a non stick surface and stretch into the bottom of two greased 9x13 pans. Melt butter in a small bowl and add the garlic powder. Mix well with a spoon and brush, with a pastry brush, the melted garlic butter over the flatbreads.
Sprinkle generously with Italian seasoning.
Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes.
Or bake 10 minutes then sprinkle with cheese and bake 10 minutes more.
Let cool and cut into strips with a pizza cutter, and
Enjoy!

*If preparing early you can bake for 10 minutes and take it out. Then place it in the fridge overnight or the day of, with sprinkled cheese on top for variation, and finish cooking when getting ready for dinner by putting it back in the preheated oven at 425 and baking 10 minutes more or until cheese has melted.
